Meeting House License requests

The South West Heritage Trust have two relating to Sticklepath at the Exeter archive:

  1. Stickelpath Meeting 1811

To the Honorable and Right Reverend Father in God George by Divine Permission Lord Bishop of Exeter

We whose names are hereunto subscribed do hereby certify that we have set apart a certain Building in the village of Stickelpath and Parish of Sampford Courtenay in the County of Devon for the Worship of Almighty God – by certain of his Majesty’s Protestant Subjects Dissenting from the Church of England which we request may be Registered pursuant to Act of Parliament October 2nd 1811

2. Stamped Oak Hampton and addressed to Mr Fowler, Methodist Chapel, Exeter

To the Right Revd Father in God the Lord Bishop of Exeter

He whose names are here under written being his Majesty’s Protestant Subjects (commonly called Methodists) dissenting from the Church of England having set apart a room in the house of Oliver Lang in the Parish of SticklePath for the purpose of Worshipping Almighty God desire the same may be registered at the Bishop’s Court at Exeter according to an Act of Parliament in that case made (???) provided as witness our hands
