A few words from The Western. Times, Friday September 24, 1926, paint a picture:
Sticklepath
We regret. to record the death, at the age of 69, yesterday of Mr George Hooper, of Bridge Cottage, Sticklepath. Deceased was a great local authority on trout fishing, and was much sought after by visitors in regard to advice on flies, worms, etc. He worked for the late Mr. John Cook for more than. 50 years, and was a splendid example of old-fashioned Liberalism.
