STICKLEPATH. The funeral of Mr. William Newcombe, of “Ska View,” took place on Thursday week in the Sticklepath Cemetery in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Deceased, who was aged 74, was for great number of years a successful farmer. He was a much respected villager and his genial personality will be greatly missed. He was a bachelor.

Mr. A. G. Finch, J.P., officiated at the Methodist Chapel and at the graveside. The immediate mourners were Mr. John Newcombe, Chagford, and Mrs. Reeves, Birmingham (brother and sister), Mrs. Sprague (sister) and Mrs. Bowden, Mr. Sprague aud Mrs. Newcombe (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. Newcombe, Kingsteignton (nephew), Messrs. The bearers were Messrs William Davey, Davey, Albert Bowden, Sydney Bowden, George Littlejohns and Charlie Bowden.

The snowball whist drive prize was won by Mrs. Bayliss. These series of drives are run in connection with the Working Men’s Club.

Master Norman Bowden has passed a Civil Service examination, held some time ago at Plymouth.
